Talking sports while everyone else talks s#*%. Don't be haters, be Debaters!

Unbelievable!  In the history of the NCAA tournament, a #15 team has only beaten the #2 team a total of 4 times.  Today, in about a 4 hour period of time, this feat happened twice.  First, Norfolk State beat Missouri in a nail biting 86-84 contest.  Kyle O’Quinn put up a huge 26 points and 14 rebounds, leading the way for the Spartans.  Pendarvis Williams and Chris McEachin each added 20 points for Norfolk State.  Norfolk beat Missouri at their own game, hitting 54% from the field as well as an astounding 53% from the perimeter.  Thanks to O’Quinn, the Spartans out rebounded the Tigers 35-23.  The Spartans made their first ever tournament trip one to remember.  The Big Twelve Tournament Champions let a lot of people down today, as Kyle O’Quinn shouted at the end of the game while running off the court, “We messed up some brackets!  We messed up some brackets!”

Not everyone is excited - it's why they call them UPSETS

Watching Missouri lose to Norfolk State was crazy enough, but then to watch Duke fall to the Patriot League Champions Lehigh, that was the icing on the cake.  Lead by C.J. McCollum, the two time Patriot League player of the year and the 5th leading scorer in the NCAA’s this season, the Mountain Hawks took down the perennial contending Blue Devils.  McCollum put up 30 points, 6 assists and collected 6 boards.  Although Duke and Lehigh both sported a 27-7 regular season record, you would imagine Duke had a tougher time collecting wins playing their ACC schedule.  That is why they play the game, as you never know.

Michigan also lost to the #13 seeded Ohio Bobcats, adding to a night of wild upsets.  Currently the #1 seeded Michigan State Spartan are barely edging out LIU Brooklyn at the half.  Can’t wait to see if more history is made tonight.  This is what makes March Madness great!  Let’s wait to see what the weekend brings.  How did today’s games affect your brackets?

  1. How about a shout out for my fellow MAC school, Ohio, for making it to the Sweet Sixteen as a #13 seeded team.

  2. Being the March Madness guru I am, I was able to remain fairly unaffected by yesterday’s upsets. I had Florida beating Missouri in the round of 32 while I had Duke losing in the Sweet 16 to Baylor. Both of these upsets make my picks more feasible. Watching majority of the games yesterday, it made me realize why I love this Tournament!

Last night, Duke University, had one of the most embarrassing performances under coach K. There were a few factors for their collapse. I believe, It’s almost impossible for a team to win a basketball game when the team (Duke) goes 6 for 26 from the three-point range. Another reason of their collapse was Austin Rivers’ performance. He went 5 for 14 from the field. One more, would be the no presence of the injured forward Ryan Kelly. Last, but not least, Lehigh, (who was supported by UNC fans), wasn’t afraid to play against Duke University and played a decent basketball game.
